Borders of Experiment: Jonas Engel
In his solo sets, the saxophonist and woodwind player living between Cologne and Copenhagen explores live post-processing of the saxophone as a way to expand the sound spectrum of the instrument. He moves freely from acoustic-sounding timbres and vocal screams to radical manipulations dissolving the original actions into sometimes aggressive and sometimes more ambient sound-acts, transforming the otherwise purely physical relationship between the player and his instrument.
