Vašulka Kitchen Brno & BAiR 2025

It is our pleasure to announce that for Vašulka Kitchen Brno 2025 residency program we selected media artist Cailean Finn.

The decision was certainly not easy and we thank everyone else for their interest and the many excellent projects!

Jam Session ◊ Vašulka Kitchen

Vašulka Kitchen in cooperation with Dom umění and Brno modular organize an open DAWless Live Jam at the Brno House of Arts.

Listeners and musicians are cordially invited ♡

The Jam will take place in the generous space of the Procházka Hall of the House of Arts, with an unmistakable atmosphere and reverb.

Bring your modular, synth, keyboard, electric fujara or other electronic instrument, cable to connect to the mix and come to the Jam Session in the premises of the Brno House of Arts. There will also be a projector if you want to join in with your own projection or VJ set. Equipment (digital and analogue video synths, projections from the archive and more) will be on site for free use, anything you can find at home is of course welcome too.

This is an opportunity to meet not only male and female musicians, but also fans of electronic and experimental music and free improvisation. We will listen to each other, inspire each other and together create an audiovisual performance and hopefully a friendly atmosphere. We will start at a slower tempo to create space for ambient surfaces, gradually speeding up the BPM (idea). At the end we plan an ambient set (but the plans are just ephemeral ideas).

On the mixing desk, we'll try to make sure everyone can hear the session well and enjoy it. The jam will be divided into shorter (+-30 minutes) blocks of time, which we will alternate between, we don't want to connect 20 musicians simultaneously and create a massive wall of sound, but rather give the opportunity for musical encounters in 3-5 players.

We don't want to boss anyone around or create unbreakable rules, think of it as a starting point with room for change. We want to listen and respect each other when improvising and organizing.

We look forward to it!

Organisation: Ondřej Merta
