This robotic installation with responsive projection is as much an apparatus of art as it is a tool for music and an instrument of psychology and physics. Tautophone is a reference to the projective “auditory Rorschach” tests developed by psychologists Skinner, Rosenzweig, and Shakow in the 1930s and 1940s, while Curious here refers to the robot's motivation to explore its surroundings and to learn.
It is our pleasure to announce that for Vašulka Kitchen Brno 2025 residency program we selected media artist Cailean Finn.

Vasulka Kitchen Brno will be open during Brno Museum Night on Saturday 7 August from 6 pm until midnight. There will be a new exhibition of Woody Vasulka’s prints, including the installation Noisefields: Light Revisited, outputs of international audiovisual workshops, and the presentation of the interface of an interactive mobile app by artist Petr Svárovský, aimed at atypical descriptions of places around Brno.

We kindly invite you to the presentations of the Vasulka Live Archive project, that reflects several years of collaboration between art historians and programmers to mediate the work of Steina and Woody Vasulka using artificial intelligence and interactive interfaces. Vasulka Kitchen Brno was the research project’s guarantor of the application along with the Brno House of Arts. The exhibition opening will be followed by an audio-visual performance by the British improv father and daughter duo Yeah You - Mykl Jaxn and Elvin Brandhi.

We kindly invite you to the exhibition of the contemporary Dutch artist and musician Gijs Gieskes, who has been focusing on the design of audiovisual electronic instruments since the late 1990s. In this field, he is an established designer with a radical approach to electronics that constantly blurs the boundaries between music, art, and science.

Sigrún Hardarðottír has long worked with the theme of Gaia and the affinity between human expression and natural forces. In the exhibition project Permutation(s) the artist has prepared a multimedia installation connecting Icelandic nature and a survey of Brno and its surrounding forests (Holedná in Jundrov or Soběšice) realized in the autumn of 2023.
Sigrún Hardarðottír se dlouhodobě zabývá tématem Gaia a souvislostí mezi lidským jednáním a přírodními silami. Pro výstavní projekt Permutace autorka připravila multimediální instalaci propojující islandskou přírodu s terénním výzkumem města Brna spolu s okolními lesy (Obora Holedná v Jundrově nebo Soběšický les), který realizovala na podzim roku 2023.
The artist Haraldur Karlsson has cooperated with Vasulka Kitchen Brno in the past having developed an online workshop on the use of Medical Imagery for Creative Purposes in 2020 and by having taken part in our residency program in 2021 where he proposed to work on the development of the Imag/ine software instrument for real-time video manipulation originally developed at STEIM by Steina Vasulka and Tom Demeyer for contemporary operating systems.
Susanna Flock zkoumá vztah těla k jeho technologicky zprostředkovanému prostředí a ke kultuře obrazovky. Ve své práci se zabývá kategoriemi a jevy, které ohledávájí souvislost mezi digitální technologií a každodenním životem. Do dialogu vstupují pojmy jako korelace digitálního a analogového, přítomnost a nepřítomnost, sounáležitost a osamělost, nebo dokonce izolace (vnímaná jako stav hyperpropojeného a komunitního prostředí). Podstatná část Susanniny práce se rovněž týká výzkumu internetových fenoménů, které jsou zhmotněny převážně do videoinstalací.
