This robotic installation with responsive projection is as much an apparatus of art as it is a tool for music and an instrument of psychology and physics. Tautophone is a reference to the projective “auditory Rorschach” tests developed by psychologists Skinner, Rosenzweig, and Shakow in the 1930s and 1940s, while Curious here refers to the robot's motivation to explore its surroundings and to learn.
It is our pleasure to announce that for Vašulka Kitchen Brno 2025 residency program we selected media artist Cailean Finn.
The decision was certainly not easy and we thank everyone else for their interest and the many excellent projects!
The exhibition Non-narrative Video art at Vašulka Kitchen Brno is a panorama of video production from Gdansk. The selected artists represent a group of teachers from the Academy of Fine Arts, but also several who had little to do with their local academic scene. The video art movement in Gdansk originates from curriculum reforms with the aim of creating fields of intermedia study. Successfully implemented, these curricula constitute the basis for the development of video art in Gdansk today evidenced by the successive generations of artists working in this medium.
Výstava Nenarativní videoart ve Vašulka Kitchen Brno je panoramatem video tvorby z Gdaňsku. Vybraní umělci nepředstavují pouze skupinu pedagogů z Akademie výtvarných umění, ale také několik dalších, kteří s místní akademickou scénou neměli mnoho společného. Videoartové hnutí v Gdaňsku vzniklo na základě reformy studijních programů s cílem vytvořit obory zaměřené na intermediální tvorbu. Tyto úspěšně zavedené studijní programy představují základ pro rozvoj videoartu v Gdaňsku, o čemž dnes svědčí několik po sobě jdoucích generací umělců pracujících v tomto médiu.

The installation Light Revisited from the permanent exhibition of works by Steina and Woody Vašulka will be presented in the new premises of Vašulka Kitchen Brno in the House of Lords of Kunštát.
