Peter Blasser of Ciat-Lonbarde
DIY synths, solar powered synths
They say Don Buchla was a mastermind of early modular synths and Peter Blasser is a whiz of DIY synths. The Baltimore-based musician builds and designs electronic sound devices for fun and profit with his company, Ciat-Lonbarde. The fun part of all this is that a lot of his instruments look like toys.
After finishing studies in Electronic Music, Chinese, Computer Science and Ancient Greek Blasser also did an apprenticeship with legendary synthmaker Don Buchla. Starting out making guitars and lutes, Peter eventually moved on to making synthesizers often using recycled wood, copper and circuit boards for his unique designs.
Two days later there will be a workshop happening in Prague where you can build a solar powered touch synthesizer Tocante with it's designer Peter Blasser: DIY Workshop - Tocante
