DJ workshop with David Štrobach
The course, which launches a longer-term dramaturgical series of Ondřej Merta’s dj workshops
DJ workshop with David Štrobach starts a longer series of DJ workshops in Vasulka Kitchen. Ondřej Merta, who organizes the whole event, will gradually invite DJs and DJs who will share with us their approach to djing, their experience with playing, searching and discovering music. We would like to gradually create a space to get acquainted not only with the technical and socio-historical side of djing, but also to connect the participants with various personalities of the djing music scene.
In the pilot djing workshop, the lecturer will be David Štrobach, who is behind the former Herna club and is involved in the programme of the Vitamin club in Brno. He plays under the name Servisbot (ex Kadaver).
In the introductory part of the workshop we will briefly touch upon the social and cultural background of djing. You will be introduced to the pioneer players that are the club standard, we will also go through the dj mix in detail. We will explain and demonstrate mixing methods.
The main goal of the workshop is to get a closer understanding of the technique and basic experience with mixing tracks. This will be the focus of the second part of the workshop. We will be mixing your songs into the tracks of those who will be “playing” before you. We will alternate back-to-back like this for the rest of the evening. In between we may open up related topics of copyright, publishing sets, booking, remixing, finding new music, etc. Or just chat. The workshop is meant for everyone - beginners and more experienced djs alike.
With you: usb flash drive formatted to FAT32 with tracks in mp3, wav, aiff, aac format
