Steina and Woody Vasulkas are usually considered as the pioneers of the "electronic moving image". I will mention their balanced passion for "linking image and sound". They are also seen as "creators of new electronic instruments”. I will explain how they 'play' these instruments, the inherent 'performativity of their work' and will place their work in the context of history of "performative turn".
Tomáš Ruller is initiator and founder of Vasulka Kitchen Brno association. He graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. His work of visual artist and performer includes installations, video and multimedia, architectural realisations and stage design. In totalitarian period, he initiated and participated in many unofficial art activities, co-founded international performance-art movements The School of Attention / East-West Study Project (since 1983) and the Black Market (since 1985), organized Open Situation festivals (since 1989). Was also active in Velvet Revolution. As university professor, established the Video-Multimedia-Performance Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at UT Brno. Since 1994 works with Steina and Woody Vašulkas, curating theirs first exhibitions in Czech Republic.
